The Nook is a small footprint tower built around an enclosed condo, for cats that sleep hidden rather than on display. The wooden shell blocks light and sound in a way an open platform cannot, which suits nervous cats and busy households.
Soft mats line the interior and lift straight out. That is the part that gets hair, dander and the occasional accident, and being able to remove and wash it is what keeps an enclosed space from becoming unpleasant over months of use.
The scratching pad is integrated rather than bolted on, so the whole piece stays compact. At medium size it fits in a bedroom corner or beside a sofa without the presence of a full height tower.
